Harris County Man Charged with Murder in Rent Dispute Shooting; At Large

A man has been charged with murder after an 18-year-old was fatally shot following an argument over rent payment in north Harris County. The suspect, Angel Gomez Montanez, 21, is currently at large, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, at approximately 10:11 PM, Harris County Sheriff’s Office District 1 Patrol Deputies responded to a shooting call in the 17000 block of Butte Creek Road, near Kuykendahl and FM-1960.

Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, 18-year-old Christopher Rodriguez Lara, unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS personnel pronounced Rodriguez Lara deceased at the scene.

Homicide and Crime Scene Investigators conducted a preliminary investigation and learned that the shooting stemmed from an argument between Gomez Montanez and Rodriguez Lara concerning rent payment.
