Harris County Violent Warrants Task Force Clears 5,000 Warrants Since 2022 Launch

A specialized unit formed to apprehend the region’s most dangerous fugitives has cleared over 5,000 warrants since its inception in 2022, officials announced this week. The Violent Persons Warrants Task Force—comprised of 22 elite members from the Harris County Sheriff’s and Constables’ Offices—has significantly contributed to public safety by locating and arresting high-risk offenders.

“Knowing this dedicated team is out there every day trying to locate and apprehend the most serious offenders is definitely a big plus, and it’s important for public safety in our region,” said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The task force uses advanced technology and intelligence-based methods to track violent fugitives, many of whom are wanted for multiple felony offenses. “It’s not just 5,000 arrests; it is 5,000 warrants cleared,” said Lt. Brooks Collier, who leads the team. “Sometimes they have way more than five, six, seven felony warrants as they just go on these sprees of crime.”

Funded with $2.6 million approved by Harris County Commissioners, the task force was designed for swift warrant execution. “The immediacy of having that warrant issued to having officers looking for them… is important to keeping Harris County safe,” said Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia.

Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones credited interagency collaboration for the task force’s continued success, saying it “helps keep our families safer across Harris County.”

Notable Recent Arrests Include:

  • Aaron Grant, arrested in Crosby, was wanted on charges of assault impeding breath, continuous family violence (two counts), injury to a child, and stalking. At the time of his arrest, he was already out on bond for a murder charge.
  • Marquice Wear, arrested in Baytown, faced charges of murder, engaging in organized crime, and evading arrest in a motor vehicle. His warrants stemmed from a revoked bond in a murder case.
  • Angela Abuzaidt, arrested in North Houston, was charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and impersonating a public servant. She failed to identify herself during arrest, resulting in additional charges.
  • Meagan Presswood, arrested in Humble, was wanted for promotion of prostitution and criminal mischief. Authorities confirmed she is a documented associate of the Outlaw Motorcycle gang BEAST MG.

The Harris County Violent Persons Warrants Task Force continues to operate across the county with a focus on removing violent fugitives from the community.
