CYPRESS, Texas – A 27-year-old caregiver has been arrested after authorities say a 21-year-old disabled man suffered severe burns while under her supervision in Cypress.

According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, deputies responded Tuesday, July 21, to the 15000 block of Palmer Manor Court to investigate a reported injury to a disabled person.

Deputies met with the complainant, who reported that her 21-year-old disabled son sustained serious burns on July 13 while being bathed by his caregiver.

Investigators identified the caregiver as Monique Davis.

During the investigation, Davis told deputies she was unaware that the bath water had become unreasonably hot.

Authorities determined the victim suffered second-degree burns to approximately 9% of his body.

Following the investigation, deputies arrested Davis and charged her with Injury to a Disabled Person.

She was booked into the Harris County Jail. Her bond was set at $30,000 by the 174th District Court.
