Abuser of Girlfriend’s Daughter Sentenced to 50 Years in Montgomery County

A Montgomery County jury has sentenced an individual to 50 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after finding him guilty of sexually abusing his girlfriend’s daughter, an ordeal that began when the victim was just 10 years old and continued for over five years.
The courageous survivor, now 19, came forward on April 4, 2023, prompting a comprehensive investigation by the Conroe Police Department. The victim’s bravery was driven by a desire for closure after enduring years of abuse at the hands of her mother’s ex-boyfriend.
The trial commenced on May 9, 2025, in the 435th District Court, presided over by Judge Patty Maginnis. Prosecutor Frances Manzo presented the case for the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
Jurors heard powerful testimony from the survivor herself, supported by a psychologist specializing in child maltreatment, Conroe Police Detectives, family members, and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). Investigators were able to corroborate the details of the abuse through consistent evidence. Despite the defendant taking the stand and claiming innocence, the jury returned a guilty verdict after just over an hour of deliberation, following four days of emotional testimony.
After the punishment phase, which included additional testimony and victim impact statements, the jury delivered the 50-year sentence.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office extended its sincere thanks to the Conroe Police Department for their tireless work, which helped ensure the survivor’s voice was heard and justice was served.
District Attorney Brett Ligon emphasized the office’s commitment: “When children are abused, silence protects the predator. But when survivors speak, we act. This office will always stand with the brave and bring the full weight of justice against those who harm them.”
