Suspect Arrested in Fatal Sweetwater Lane Shooting; Also Charged in Separate Aggravated Assault

Houston police have arrested 31-year-old David Michael Villarreal in connection with the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Jose Segoiva Arvizu on April 15th in the 8900 block of Sweetwater Lane.
Villarreal is charged with murder and unlawful carry of a weapon with a felony conviction in the 262nd State District Court.
According to Houston Police Department Homicide Division Sergeants R. Watson and M. Burrow, patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the Sweetwater Lane address around 1:55 a.m. on April 15th and found Arvizu with at least one gunshot wound outside a vehicle. Paramedics transported Arvizu to a hospital, where he died on April 19th.
Further investigation identified Villarreal as the suspect. Officers arrested him on Monday, April 28th, and he was subsequently charged in Arvizu’s death.
Additionally, Villarreal faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 262nd State District Court for a separate incident that occurred at 415 W. Mierianne Street around 4:25 a.m. on April 14th. In that incident, he is accused of discharging a firearm, although no one was struck.
