Fort Bend Commissioner Calls for Judge KP George’s Resignation After New Felony Indictment

Commissioner Vincent Morales has called for Fort Bend County Judge KP George to resign following a new felony indictment. This indictment is separate from a misdemeanor indictment George faced last fall.

Morales stated his faith in the District Attorney and state law enforcement to conduct a fair process and believes the facts should be explored through the legal system. He reiterated his previous call for resignation, which Republicans across Fort Bend County had also made after the initial indictments. Morales also mentioned the election of Commissioner Andy Meyers, who defeated George’s former Chief of Staff, Taral Patel, after Patel also faced calls to withdraw from his race.

Commissioner Morales expressed significant concern about the functioning of the county government amidst these events. He raised questions about the circumstances of the indictments and their relation to the county judge’s practice of using public funds for personal security.

Morales believes the indictments severely impact Judge George’s role as a member of the judiciary and his statutory authority as the head of the county’s emergency management, potentially conflicting with the priority of public safety.

For these reasons, Commissioner Morales reiterated his call for County Judge KP George to resign his office to allow the commissioners court to continue serving and protecting the citizens of Fort Bend County.
