90-Year-Old Man Shot and Killed in Parking Lot at Westbrae Parkway; Suspect Still At Large
Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 90-year-old man at 10680 Westbrae Parkway around 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 31. The victim’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger, patrol officers responded to an assault in progress call at an independent living community at the address above. They found the man with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was at his vehicle when approached by an unknown male suspect. The suspect assaulted the victim, shot him, and stole his belongings before driving off in the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered at an apartment complex in the 12500 block of Dunlap Street.
The suspect is described as a black male, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old.
