71-Year-Old Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Cork Drive in Houston

A 71-year-old woman was killed in a crash Sunday evening, June 22, after a Nissan Sentra failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a Jeep Wrangler at the intersection of Cork Drive and Claygate Drive.
Houston Police Department officers responded to the scene at approximately 8:05 p.m. According to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer R. Young, the Nissan was traveling southbound on Claygate Drive and failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign. It entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound Jeep Wrangler on Cork Drive.
A female passenger in the Nissan was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to Ben Taub Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Other occupants of the Nissan were taken to a nearby hospital and are listed in stable condition. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene, showed no signs of intoxication, and was questioned and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
