43-Minute Police Chase Ends in PIT Maneuver, Two Arrested in Vehicle Burglary Case

HOUSTON — Two suspects were arrested after a reported vehicle burglary led to a 43-minute pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies before the fleeing vehicle was stopped with a PIT maneuver, according to police.
West University Police Officers were dispatched around 3:08 a.m. April 20, 2026, to the 3700 block of Nottingham regarding a burglary of a motor vehicle that had just occurred.
The caller reported the suspect fled in a dark SUV.
Responding officers located the suspect vehicle in the 3700 block of Arnold and encountered a suspect on foot wearing a ski mask, according to investigators.
Police said the suspect got into the passenger side of the SUV, and the vehicle fled, prompting a pursuit that continued into Houston.
Authorities said the chase lasted about 43 minutes and involved assistance from the Houston Police Department, Bellaire Police Department, Harris County Constable Precinct 7, an HPD helicopter unit and a K-9 team.
The pursuit ended in the 6400 block of Del Rio when Houston police used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Precious Tugwell, was arrested and charged with evading.
The passenger, Caleb Taylor, was charged with two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle.
Both suspects were taken to a local hospital and were reported in stable condition.
Authorities said additional charges involving possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm were declined by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
