16-Year-Old Dies in Apparent Accidental Shooting at The Woodlands Home

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy who was fatally shot early Thursday morning at a residence in The Woodlands.
According to authorities, deputies responded at approximately 4:04 a.m. on June 4th to a 911 call reporting a male with a gunshot wound inside a home on Redberry Court.
Patrol units arrived on scene within minutes and began lifesaving measures. Despite those efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified the deceased as a 16-year-old male. His name has not been released pending notification of additional family members.
Officials said two other individuals were inside the residence at the time of the shooting, including a 17-year-old friend and a 19-year-old sibling of the victim.
Preliminary findings indicate the shooting appears to have been accidental, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities stated there is no threat to the public.
The case will be forwarded to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for review and determination of any potential criminal charges.
Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene along with representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigators remained at the residence Thursday conducting interviews and processing evidence.
The scene remains active, and the investigation is ongoing.
