Woman Killed in Edinburg Road Rage Incident

On Sunday, July 14, 2024, at approximately 4:52 PM, Hidalgo County Deputies responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance on the 6300 block of Lorena Street in Edinburg, Texas. Callers reported several individuals fighting on the roadway, with one man reportedly armed with a machete.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 20-year-old female who had sustained fatal injuries to the head. Initial witness statements indicated that a man and woman were walking along the road when a vehicle stopped and a verbal altercation ensued between the driver and the victims. The driver initially left the scene, only to return, at which point he ran over both individuals with his vehicle. The 27-year-old male victim sustained minor injuries and has been transported to a nearby hospital.

Deputies have located and detained the driver of the vehicle. Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Investigators and Crime Scene Specialists are currently on the scene, speaking with witnesses and gathering evidence.
