Woman Fights Off Carjacker at Humble Gas Station

A quick-thinking woman fought off a carjacker at a gas station in the 19800 block of Kenswick Drive in Humble, TX, on Monday, April 7, 2025.
A deputy with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the gas station after the victim reported that she was putting air in her tires when she finished and found an unknown male sitting in her driver’s seat. When she asked him to get out, he refused and started to drive away.
The victim held onto her driver-side rail handle as the suspect continued to drive. He allegedly punched her in the face multiple times and then crashed the vehicle into a brick wall. Despite the crash, the victim continued to hold on and even offered the suspect money to stop.
The suspect then handed her purse back, at which point she quickly grabbed her knife to defend herself. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Constable Deputies were able to quickly detain the suspect, who was identified as 26-year-old Shadrach Iyere.
“Shadrach Iyere was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Aggravated Robbery. His bond was set at $20,000.00 out of the 351st District Court,” stated Constable Mark Herman.
