Woman Dead in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Milam Street

Authorities are currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 900 Milam Street in Downtown Houston around 12:25 p.m. on Monday, January 29.

The victim, a 64-year-old female pedestrian, was walking across the street within the designated crosswalk when she was struck by a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The truck, making a left turn onto Milam Street from Walker Street, collided with the pedestrian.

Emergency services responded to the scene and transported the injured woman to Memorial Hermann Hospital – Texas Medical Center. She was pronounced deceased upon arrival.

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that the 58-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet Silverado failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrian. The driver, who was not found to be impaired, was questioned by authorities and subsequently released.

The investigation is ongoing.
