Woman Arrested for Stealing Mail from North Houston Mailroom

NORTH HOUSTON, Texas — A 32-year-old woman was arrested and charged with mail theft after deputies caught her taking mail from a residential mailroom, authorities announced.

Kristin Van Ness, 32, was taken into custody on Friday, September 25, 2026, by deputies with Harris County Constable Mark Herman’s Office following a report of a burglary in progress in the 13100 block of Kuykendahl Road in North Houston.

Burglary Response and Suspect Detained

Constable’s Office dispatchers received a call advising that a female suspect was actively stealing mail from the property’s mailroom. Deputies responded to the location and located Van Ness on the scene.

Upon detaining Van Ness, deputies conducted an investigation and confirmed that she was in possession of multiple stolen items of mail belonging to various residents of the property.

Legal Charges and Official Statement

Van Ness was arrested and transported to the Harris County Jail, where she was formally charged with Theft of Mail. Her bond was established at $30,000 out of the 183rd District Court.

“Mail theft is a serious crime that can lead to identity theft and financial loss for innocent victims,” Constable Mark Herman said following the arrest. “Our deputies remain committed to protecting our residents and holding those responsible accountable.”
