West Texas Man Sentenced to 50 Years for Enticing and Sexually Abusing 10-Year-Old Girl in Front of Younger Sister
Leandro Rodriquez, Jr.

Dallas, TX – A 44-year-old Plainview man was sentenced today to 50 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to enticement of a minor for sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl in the presence of her younger sister, announced U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould.

Leandro Rodriquez, Jr. was indicted in May 2025 and entered a guilty plea in October 2025 to one count of enticement of a minor. U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix imposed the 50-year sentence during a hearing in the Northern District of Texas.

According to court documents and statements from prosecutors, the abuse came to light in March 2025 when the legal guardian of the victim, referred to as “Jane Doe,” discovered suspicious messages on the child’s phone. The messages instructed Doe on where to meet once her guardian left for work. When questioned, Doe revealed the sender was Rodriquez, who was then the boyfriend of Doe’s biological mother.

Doe and her younger sister had recently been permitted to stay overnight with their mother and Rodriquez at a residence in Plainview, Texas. During forensic interviews with law enforcement, Doe disclosed that Rodriquez had sexual intercourse with her while the girls were staying at the home. Critically, Doe stated that her younger sister was present in the room during the abuse. Doe further reported that after the assault, Rodriquez instructed her to send him a video of herself engaging in a sexual act, explaining that “he taught me how.”

Doe’s younger sister was also interviewed and corroborated the account, confirming she witnessed Rodriquez having sex with her older sister while their mother was away from the residence.

The Plainview Police Department launched an investigation with assistance from the FBI’s Dallas Field Office – Lubbock Resident Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. A search warrant was executed on Rodriquez’s cell phone, which revealed:

  • Several sexually explicit images of the 10-year-old victim
  • Text messages from Rodriquez directing Doe to sneak out of her residence to meet him
  • A video of Rodriquez and Doe cuddling, in which Doe tells the camera they are “happily married”

Rodriquez was arrested following the discovery of this evidence.

“This defendant exploited a position of trust to prey on a vulnerable child and then sought to record and perpetuate her abuse,” U.S. Attorney Raybould stated. “The 50-year sentence reflects the gravity of these crimes and our unwavering commitment to protecting children from sexual predators.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Rancourt. The investigation was led by the Plainview Police Department, with critical support from federal partners.
