Victim of December 2023 Shooting Dies, Houston Police Seeking Leads

Houston police have confirmed that a male who was injured in a shooting on December 10, 2023, has passed away. The incident took place at 9800 West Bellfort Avenue in southwest Houston around 6:50 p.m.

The deceased individual has been identified as John Davis, aged 65. According to reports, Davis was accompanied by a friend who was driving his vehicle. While they were passing an unrelated minor accident on West Bellfort, they heard gunshots coming from a passing vehicle.

Davis sustained a gunshot wound during the incident and was found unresponsive by the driver. The driver, who was also shot in the lower leg, took Davis to a nearby hospital for medical assistance.

Davis remained hospitalized until February 22, 2024, when he succumbed to the gunshot wound he had sustained.

Witnesses at the scene described the suspect only as a black male wearing a gray hoodie, who was seated in the back seat of a sedan. The make, model, and color of the vehicle remain unknown.
