Update: Blue Silverado Ruled Out in Fatal West Fuqua Motorcycle Crash; Victim Identified

Houston police have determined that a blue Chevrolet Silverado initially identified as a vehicle of interest was not involved in a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred at 4800 West Fuqua Street on Friday, April 25th.

Earlier reports indicated investigators believed the driver of the Silverado struck the victim. However, further investigation revealed that the driver and passenger of the Chevrolet had stopped to render aid to the injured motorcyclist, identified as 67-year-old Kevin Jones, but were not involved in the initial crash.

According to the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division, Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer D. Thompson reported that the operator of a black Harley-Davidson FLS motorcycle, Kevin Jones, was traveling eastbound near the 4800 block of West Fuqua Street when he lost control and struck the concrete curb along the median. The occupants of the blue Chevrolet witnessed Mr. Jones lying in the roadway, stopped, and attempted to assist him.

Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Mr. Jones deceased at the scene.

The investigation into the cause of the motorcycle crash is ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4065 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 713-222-TIPS.
