Two Suspects Flee on Foot After High-Speed Pursuit, Caught Near Memorial Hermann Hospital
On the morning of Saturday, January 25, at approximately 7:48 a.m., the Humble Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle pursuit traveling southbound from Montgomery County. Officers began patrolling the area of US Highway 59 and quickly located a white passenger vehicle with no license plates driving erratically at a high rate of speed.
A traffic unit from Humble PD attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit. Shortly after, both the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle near Memorial Hermann Hospital and fled on foot.
The Humble Traffic Unit detained the passenger quickly after a short chase. The suspect, exhausted from running, struggled to stand or walk. The driver, who attempted to evade capture, was located nearby by a patrol unit. He had fallen into a ditch, was soaking wet, and bleeding but tried to fabricate a story, claiming he had just come from his girlfriend’s apartment. Officers discovered his story to be false, as the apartments he mentioned were exclusively rented to the elderly and did not account for his injuries and condition.
Both suspects were handed over to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies, who determined that they had stolen more than $1,000 worth of Lego sets from a business in Montgomery County. The suspects are also believed to be connected to thefts in Humble, and one suspect had an outstanding warrant.
Because Montgomery County units had lost sight of the vehicle before the Humble PD initiated the stop, the suspects now face evading charges in both Montgomery and Harris counties.
