Two Men Charged with Murder in December 2022 Fatal Shooting in Houston

Charges have been filed against a second suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a man on December 9, 2022. Kermit Ladell Johnson, 38, faces capital murder charges in the death of John Charles Gibson III, 29, at 10015 Main Street around 6:55 a.m.

Johnson’s charges come after Darrell Bell, 40, was previously charged with capital murder in the same case. Both suspects are accused of involvement in Gibson’s death, who was shot on the second-floor walkway of a motel at the mentioned address. Despite Houston Fire Department paramedics responding promptly, Gibson was pronounced deceased at the scene, with no known motive or suspect description initially available.

Following ongoing investigation, Bell was arrested and charged on May 31, 2023. Further inquiries led to the identification of Johnson as another suspect. On February 16, 2024, Johnson was charged for his role in the incident. Currently, he is in federal custody facing unrelated charges.
