Two Arrested, Juveniles Identified in Deadly Shooting at North Austin Apartments

AUSTIN, Texas — Two suspects have been arrested and additional individuals identified following a fatal shooting at a north Austin apartment complex, according to police.
Officers with the Austin Police Department responded around 6:49 p.m. on April 8, 2026, to a shooting at the Nova North Apartments in the 12400 block of Dessau Road.
When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Police, along with Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS, provided medical aid. The victim, later identified as Tyrell Robinson, was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m.
Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and later seeing the victim on the ground. They also provided a description of a possible suspect and the direction he fled.
A short time later, officers located and detained a person matching the description. That individual was identified as 19-year-old Chance Young, who was arrested on related charges.
As the investigation progressed, detectives identified additional individuals believed to be involved, including three juveniles and another male. The additional suspect was identified as 17-year-old Drevon Slaughter, who was also arrested.
Authorities said charges for the three juveniles are pending as the investigation continues.
