The suspects, later identified as 18-year-old Aaron Noe Chavez of Katy and a juvenile male, had fled the scene in a vehicle but were quickly apprehended. Investigators recovered the firearm believed to have been discharged inside the mall.

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage, which helped identify the shooter. A search warrant was executed at the shooter’s residence, leading to the arrest of both suspects and the recovery of the firearm. Both admitted to their involvement in the incident, which police believe stemmed from an ongoing feud between two groups.

Chavez and the juvenile suspect have been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Chavez was transported to Fort Bend County Jail, while the juvenile was taken to Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention.

The Katy Police Department emphasized its commitment to identifying and apprehending dangerous criminals to protect the safety of its community, businesses, and visitors.
