Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust on Gulf Freeway

On January 11, 2024, Precinct 8 Deputy Rabago from Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office conducted a routine traffic stop in the 15100 block of the Gulf Freeway. The vehicle in question displayed a fictitious temporary permit. The driver, identified as 56-year-old Larry Flores, raised suspicion during the stop.

Upon checking Flores’ information, deputies discovered two open warrants issued by the Deer Park Police Department, along with an extensive criminal history related to narcotics. To assist in the investigation, K9 Max was deployed and indicated the presence of narcotics.

Subsequently, a probable cause-based search of the vehicle was conducted. The search revealed 18.22 grams of crack cocaine, 8.56 grams of Xanax, 1 gram of compressed pills (unknown substance), and drug paraphernalia.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was notified, and they accepted felony charges for Possession of Controlled Substance. Larry Flores was then transported to the Harris County Joint Processing, where his bond was set at $25,000.
