Toddler Dies in West Houston Hit-and-Run; Police Seek Public’s Help

Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a 2-year-old girl at an apartment complex at 3401 Ocee Street (Arbor on Richmond Apartments) on Wednesday evening. The identity of the young victim is being withheld pending family notification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The incident occurred about 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21. HPD patrol officers, initially responding to a burglary call at the apartment complex, were then notified about a child who had been struck by an unknown vehicle. Family members transported the child to an area hospital, where doctors pronounced her deceased.
Detectives with the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division learned that an adult family member was with the child in the parking lot but briefly returned to their apartment after forgetting an item. Upon returning, they found the child lying on the ground with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
At this time, authorities have no description of the vehicle involved in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
