Three-Vehicle Crash in Austin Claims One Life

On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at approximately 9:47 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a tragic three-vehicle collision in the 8200 block of Burnet Road. Preliminary findings suggest that an SUV driven by Nathan Baker ran a red light, resulting in a collision with a Capital Metro bus, a utility pole, and a parked vehicle.

Mr. Baker sustained serious injuries in the accident and was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on August 7.

No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 56th fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 59 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 62 fatal crashes resulted in 63 deaths.
