Three Houston Men Arrested in Connection to 18-Wheeler Thefts in Chambers County

In a successful operation on February 8, 2025, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) apprehended three suspects linked to a series of thefts targeting parked 18-wheelers throughout the county. Over the past month, CCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and Covert Investigations Unit (CIU) launched a thorough investigation into the thefts.
The investigation came to a head early in the morning when detectives, conducting surveillance near State Highway 61 and Interstate Highway 10, identified a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in the thefts. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, three suspects fled on foot, while one surrendered.
With assistance from the Baytown Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety, deputies successfully apprehended three out of four suspects: Jamal Tyler, Ernest Prentice, and Kaden King-Johnson, all of Houston, Texas. The men were charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, while Tyler and King-Johnson also faced charges of Evading Arrest or Detention.
Multiple stolen items were recovered during the operation, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Sheriff Hawthorne commended the coordinated efforts of the CCSO, saying, “I am incredibly proud of the dedication and teamwork displayed by our deputies, detectives, and assisting agencies. Their diligent work not only led to the capture of these suspects but also demonstrates our commitment to protecting the people and their property within Chambers County.”
