Texas DPS Trooper Receives National Award for Human Trafficking Intervention

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced that Trooper Kyle Bradley, stationed at the Capitol, was awarded the highly esteemed “Be the One” Award at the North American Human Trafficking Conference in Las Vegas. The award, created in honor of survivor and anti-human trafficking leader Meghan Connors, recognizes law enforcement officers who show outstanding dedication in the fight against human trafficking. The conference, held October 23-25, gathered law enforcement, advocates, and experts to address issues and strategies in combatting trafficking.

Trooper Bradley’s award is based on his exemplary work over the past year following his participation in a comprehensive training program at the Human Trafficking Training Center in Missouri. This specialized training provided Bradley with key skills in identifying signs of human trafficking and patterns in victim and trafficker behavior. Since completing the program, he has identified over 20 trafficking victims and facilitated the arrests of numerous traffickers during routine patrols.

In addition to his work on the ground, Bradley has actively provided critical support to vulnerable individuals he encounters, offering resources and guidance to help them escape dangerous situations. Bradley’s commitment has not only impacted individual lives but has also influenced his department: he now serves as a mentor to other officers, encouraging them to complete human trafficking training and enhancing DPS’s capacity to combat trafficking across Texas. His work is noted for balancing enforcement with compassion, a principle at the heart of the “Be the One” Award.
