Texas City Police Discover Deceased Man During Welfare Check

Texas City Police officers discovered the body of 63-year-old Ernest Galvez inside his home Monday morning after responding to a welfare check at a residence in the 1500 block of 5th Avenue N.

At approximately 9:10 a.m. on March 31, officers were dispatched to the home after an employer reported concerns over not hearing from Galvez for several days. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Galvez’s wife through a window.

Citing probable cause under exigent circumstances, officers entered the residence and found Galvez deceased. The Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Following the incident, Galvez’s wife was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
