Texas City Man Charged After Shooting Leaves One Injured Along Highway 146

TEXAS CITY, Texas — A Texas City man has been arrested following a weekend shooting that left another man hospitalized, according to the Texas City Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, to a reported weapons offense in the 1100 block of State Highway 146 after multiple callers reported hearing gunshots in the area. Several witnesses also captured video of the incident as it unfolded.
An investigation conducted by the Texas City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit determined that John Pierce, 22, of Texas City, allegedly shot Jeremiah Olmstead, 37.
Olmstead was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition, police said.
Pierce was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony, and Deadly Conduct – Discharging a Firearm, a third-degree felony. His total bond has been set at $200,000.
Police credited community members who came forward with information and video evidence that assisted investigators.
