Teen Suspected in Shooting Incident Aboard METRO Bus Near Medical Center
A teenager is suspected of being involved in a shooting that left a METRO bus passenger injured near the Medical Center, according to local authorities.
On October 27, 2023, at approximately 9:05 p.m., law enforcement received a distress call reporting gunshots on Butler Boulevard in the vicinity of Cambridge Street. METRO police have stated that the incident took place on the METRO 60 bus route, in the vicinity of the Medical Center. The situation escalated as a dispute unfolded between the teenage suspect, the bus driver, and another passenger. Subsequently, the teenager exited the bus during the altercation, but before leaving, he fired a single shot into the bus, injuring the passenger he had been arguing with.
Following the incident, the METRO bus driver drove for a short distance before stopping and promptly notifying authorities. The wounded passenger was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
The teenage suspect fled the scene on foot. He has been described by witnesses as a Black male, aged between 15 and 18 years, wearing a black hoodie, black shorts, and white shoes.
The METRO police and Houston police are currently collaborating on an investigation into the shooting incident.
