Teen Robbery Suspect Shot After Armed Confrontation in East Harris County
Anthony L. Cantera

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 17-year-old male has been charged in connection to an armed robbery and shooting that unfolded Tuesday morning, July 29, in the Cloverleaf area of East Harris County.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 13700 block of Victoria Street, near Evanston, after reports of an aggravated robbery involving gunfire.

Investigators say 18-year-old Anthony L. Cantera approached a resident outside his home, pointed a handgun at him, and demanded his wallet and keys. As other residents came outside and confronted the suspect, Cantera allegedly pointed the weapon at another individual and fired. That resident, who was armed, returned fire.

Cantera fled the scene on foot.

Shortly after, deputies were called to the 800 block of Nadolney Street—less than half a mile away—where they found a male with a gunshot wound to the leg. The individual matched the description of the robbery suspect and was identified as Anthony Cantera.

He was charged with Aggravated Robbery and remains hospitalized in fair condition. Detectives believe Cantera may be connected to several other robbery cases.
