Teen Lured to Fake Car Meet Before Deadly Drive-By Shooting in NW Harris County; Three Arrested

On Thursday, November 6, 2025, deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting in the 10000 block of Rosbrook Drive near Veterans Memorial Dr. When deputies arrived, they found a white sedan riddled with bullet strikes. Inside the vehicle were two males suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims, identified as Juan “Miguel” Acosta-Vasquez, 18, was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The second victim, a 22-year-old male, survived his injuries.
Investigators determined the victims had been traveling in the 12000 block of Veterans Memorial when occupants of another vehicle traveling in the same direction opened fire, striking their car multiple times. Crime Scene Investigators and Homicide Detectives with HCSO conducted the on-scene investigation and follow-up work.
According to investigators, 17-year-old Amy Garcia Rubio allegedly lured the victims to what was described as a car meet or “slab.” Authorities say that during the encounter, Jose Padilla, 18, and Edwin Garcia-Rivas, 22, allegedly fired multiple shots into the victims’ vehicle while driving on the roadway.
Murder charges were filed against all three suspects. The Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety, arrested the suspects without incident. All three were booked into the Harris County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
