Houston Police Department (HPD) has apprehended a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred on December 12, 2023, at the Haven At Elgin Apartment Complex, 3719 Elgin St, Houston TX.
The incident unfolded when HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the apartment complex after security officers reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered 16-year-old Edwin Quinones inside an elevator, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts by Houston Fire Department paramedics, Quinones was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Witnesses reported observing two males, believed to be in their late teens to early 20s, fleeing from the elevators and leaving the complex.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Quinones was engaged in a robbery when he was shot during a struggle with other males inside the elevator. Authorities identified 18-year-old Larry Holmes as an accomplice to Quinones, leading to charges being filed against him.
On Friday, December 29, members of the HPD Southwest Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team arrested Holmes on unrelated charges. He was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail and has now been officially charged with Murder in connection to the fatal shooting at the Haven At Elgin Apartment Complex.
