Teen Charged with Capital Murder in June 2023 Fatal Shooting in Briar Forest

An arrest has been made in connection with the murder that took place on June 7, 2023, at 1445 Lakeside Estates Drive in the Briar Forest area.

The victim in the shooting was 22-year-old Dummene Kponi.

18-year-old Adrian Marks has been charged with capital murder in the 487th State District Court in relation to the incident.

On the day of the incident, Houston Police officers responded to a shooting call at Lakeside Estates Drive, discovering the victim in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses reported four males seen running from the vehicle and leaving the area in a dark-colored SUV.

Investigations revealed that the shooting occurred during a transaction that escalated into a robbery.

Adrian Marks was identified as one of the four suspects involved. On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, he was charged for his role in the incident. Marks was already in the Harris County jail on unrelated felony charges.
