Teen Charged With Capital Murder in Fatal Shooting of Two Houston Juveniles

HOUSTON — A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of two teenage boys last month in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as Osmany Alexander Padilla-Castro, who has been charged with capital murder in the 337th Criminal District Court.
The victims were identified as 17-year-old Roldan Andrade Benites and 16-year-old Santiago Moreno.
According to investigators, officers responded around 4:20 a.m. on April 11, 2026, to reports of a shooting in the 5700 block of South Gessner Road.
When officers arrived, they found both teens suffering from gunshot wounds.
Authorities said Benites was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics, while Moreno was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Police said Moreno later died from his injuries on April 15.
Detectives with the HPD Homicide Division later identified Padilla Castro as a suspect in the case.
Officials said officers with the department’s South Gessner Division Crime Suppression Team arrested Padilla Castro on May 14. He was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
