AUSTIN COUNTY, Texas—Two suspects from Houston believed to be involved in a series of “jugging” crimes across Texas have been arrested following a collaborative effort between the Austin County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston Police Department.

On Tuesday, September 9, the Austin County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit was asked to help the Houston Police Department locate two suspects in the Austin County area. Note: “jugging” as a crime where individuals withdraw cash from banks or ATMs and are then followed and robbed.

An Austin County K-9 unit located and stopped the suspects’ vehicle on Interstate 10. The driver and passenger were identified as Thaddius Goins, 36, and Rataski Goins, 35, both from Houston.

The couple are suspects in multiple “jugging” incidents in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. They were arrested and charged with four counts of Unlawful Use of a Criminal Instrument and one count of Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information.

Both were booked into the Austin County Jail. Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues. A Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper also assisted with the traffic stop and arrests.
