Jomaal Xavierous Carroll

Jomaal Xavierous Carroll, 19, has been taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on May 28 at 5470 Braesvalley Drive. Carroll faces charges of murder in the death of Roland Dewayne Vessel, 23, according to authorities.

Houston Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex parking lot and found Mr. Vessel with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by paramedics, Vessel was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation revealed that an argument between Vessel and Carroll preceded the shooting. After the incident, Carroll fled on foot, prompting a search that led to the release of surveillance footage depicting the suspect. Following further investigation, Carroll was positively identified, and charges were filed against him on June 11.

On June 20, officers from HPD’s South Gessner Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team, in collaboration with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, apprehended Carroll without incident. He is currently held at the Harris County Jail awaiting further legal proceedings.
