Suspect Charged in Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on Central Street

Charges have been filed against Gustavo Izaguirre, 51, in connection with a fatal crash that occurred at 1300 Central Street around 10:55 p.m. on Saturday, December 2. Izaguirre faces intoxication manslaughter charges in the 339th State District Court.

The victim, a 43-year-old male, was driving a blue Kia Sportage northbound when Izaguirre, who was driving a blue Dodge Dakota pickup truck, entered the northbound lanes in the wrong direction and struck the Kia head-on.

Emergency services responded to the scene, and paramedics pronounced the driver of the Kia deceased. The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Izaguirre, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics. After determining that he was impaired, authorities charged Izaguirre. Following his release from the hospital, he was booked into the Harris County Jail. The legal proceedings will unfold in the 339th State District Court.
