Suspect Charged After Dating App Robbery and Police Chase in Houston

Charges have been filed against a man accused of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and evading arrest, following an incident that began with a dating app meetup last Friday.

Sherman McGee Miller, 22, faces charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and evading arrest/detection with a motor vehicle in the 179th State District Court.

Robbery Details

The incident occurred on Friday, June 20, 2025, around 2:00 AM, in the 10100 block of Kempwood. According to the victim, they met an unknown male, later identified as Miller, via a dating app. They agreed to meet along the roadway next to an apartment complex.

The victim stated that after Miller entered their vehicle, he immediately pulled out a handgun, pointed it at their face, and ordered them to exit the vehicle. The victim complied, and Miller then drove away in the stolen car. The Houston Police Department was notified and responded to the scene.

Pursuit and Arrest

Approximately an hour later, Houston Police Officers from the Northeast Patrol Division located the stolen vehicle in the 4300 block of Crosstimbers, being driven by a single male occupant. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled, leading officers on a pursuit.

During the chase, Miller allegedly threw a pistol from the vehicle in the 4600 block of Crosstimbers and disregarded numerous traffic lights. The pursuit ended when Miller stopped the vehicle in the 4800 block of East Crosstimbers and attempted to escape on foot. Houston Police Officers quickly apprehended him and identified him as Sherman McGee Miller. Officers were also able to recover the handgun that was discarded during the chase.

Charges were officially filed against Sherman Miller through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, and he has been transported to the Harris County jail.
