Suspect Arrested in January Fatal Shooting on Sunnyside Street

Enrique Amador Garcia, 34, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Carlos Govea Resendiz, 40, on January 5. Garcia faces charges of capital murder in the 230th State District Court.

Officers responded to a shooting call at 215 Sunnyside Street around 9:10 p.m. on January 5 and found Resendiz in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.

Initially, there were no known witnesses, suspects, or motives in the shooting. However, further investigation led authorities to identify Garcia as the suspect.

On Wednesday, March 27, officers from the HPD North Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team apprehended Garcia without incident. He was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
