A woman was arrested early Friday after allegedly locking her four-year-old child outside in near-freezing temperatures.

Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the 5800 block of Fallengate Drive in Spring, TX, at approximately 12:04 a.m. on February 14, 2025, following reports of a small child locked outside the residence.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that 43-year-old Jennifer Mann had locked her four-year-old child outside wearing only pajamas while the temperature was approximately 43 degrees Fahrenheit. Witnesses reported hearing the child banging on the door, pleading to be let inside due to the cold, but Mann refused.

Further investigation revealed that neighbors had previously witnessed similar incidents involving the child being locked outside. The child was transported to a local children’s hospital for precautionary evaluation. Child Protective Services was notified and provided details of the case.

Mann was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with child endangerment.
