Shots Fired at Texas City Officers Responding to Family Fight; Woman Injured

Texas City Police Department officers were shot at early Monday morning after responding to a report of a family disturbance in the 400 block of 27th Avenue N.

At approximately 1:01 a.m. on April 21st, a juvenile called police to report family members actively fighting outside a residence. Upon arrival, officers were met with gunfire, with initial reports indicating 4 to 6 rounds were fired at them. Additional shots were fired from inside the residence after the suspect retreated.

A female inside the residence was shot and ran outside to the officers. She sustained an apparent gunshot wound and was transported by ground ambulance to a local medical facility with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

Police have begun evacuating the immediate area and are asking for the cooperation of affected residents. Both the Crisis Negotiation and S.W.A.T. Teams are currently on scene as the situation remains fluid.
