Serious Pedestrian Crash in El Paso: 85-Year-Old Man Injured

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the El Paso Police Department responded to a call regarding a serious crash involving a pedestrian. The victim, identified as an 85-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was promptly transported to a local hospital by Fire-Medical crews.

Due to the gravity of the injuries, investigators from the Special Traffic Investigations Unit were dispatched to the scene. Preliminary findings indicate that a 70-year-old woman from East El Paso, driving a Nissan, was traveling westbound on the 6500 block of Edgemere.

As the vehicle approached the intersection of Sioux, the pedestrian, who was crossing Edgemere, entered the path of the car. Despite the driver’s efforts to avoid the collision, the pedestrian was struck. The investigation suggests that the pedestrian was in the crosswalk but might not have had the right of way and attempted to cross against the traffic light. The incident is currently under investigation by authorities.
