Second Suspect Charged in 2024 Fatal Shooting of Houston Teen

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police have arrested and charged a second suspect in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old who was killed in northeast Houston last year.
According to the Houston Police Department, 21-year-old Timmathy Elijah Jones has been charged with capital murder in the 209th State District Court in connection with the death of Jose Rodriguez.
The shooting occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2024, in the 6900 block of Caddo Lake Lane.
Officers responding to a shooting call found Rodriguez lying unresponsive in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators determined Rodriguez had arranged to meet individuals who arrived in a dark-colored SUV.
According to police, the suspects exited the vehicle and opened fire, striking Rodriguez multiple times. Investigators said Rodriguez returned fire toward the suspects and their vehicle before collapsing.
In December 2024, HPD released a surveillance image of the suspect vehicle in an effort to identify those involved.
The investigation later identified 21-year-old Raheim Bushnell Davalos as one of the suspects. He was charged with capital murder in April and arrested by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.
Investigators subsequently identified Jones as the second suspect. He was arrested on Tuesday, June 30, and charged with capital murder for his alleged role in the shooting.
Jones has been booked into the Harris County Jail.
