Second Suspect Arrested in Series of Vehicle Burglaries in La Marque and Texas City
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Division has arrested Malik Johnson in connection with a series of vehicle burglaries reported the weekend of February 7, 2026, in La Marque and Texas City.
The Texas City Police Department led the investigation and filed the related warrants. Johnson was identified as the second suspect and charged with Criminal Mischief and Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.
On February 9, Texas City patrol officers arrested Aumani Smith, identified as Johnson’s brother. At the time of his arrest, Smith was found in possession of multiple items reported stolen in the burglary cases.
Authorities credited coordination between the Texas City Police Department and the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office for locating and taking both suspects into custody. The investigation remains ongoing.
