Road Rage Incident Leads to Shooting and Crash in Montgomery County

A road rage incident on November 24, 2024, escalated into a shooting and crash on Hardin Store Road and Trailwood Estates Drive. Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded after multiple reports of vehicles being shot at.

Upon arrival, officers found the suspect’s vehicle, a gray Ford F150, crashed at the intersection and detained the driver. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Division spoke with the suspect and several victims, determining that the driver intentionally rammed the back of the victim’s vehicle before firing several shots.

The gunfire struck the victim’s car and two other vehicles traveling ahead of the victim. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The suspect, identified as 53-year-old John Dyer of Magnolia, TX, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Dyer was transported to the Montgomery County Jail, where he is being held on a $50,000 bond.
