Residents Escape Flames in Apartment Fire Near Cypress; One Injured in Balcony Jump

On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, just after 11 a.m., Cy-Fair Fire Department crews responded to a fire at an apartment complex near Highway 6 North and W. Little York Rd. in northwest Houston.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy flames on the second floor and in the attic of the building. Firefighters quickly worked to contain the blaze to one second-story apartment and its attic, with minor fire, smoke, and water damage affecting seven other units.

One resident was confirmed to have jumped from her balcony to escape the fire, sustaining only minor injuries. She was assessed, treated, and released on the scene by first responders.

The Harris County Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross has been called in to assist displaced families.
