Police Release Video and Seek Public’s Assistance in Identifying Suspect in February Shooting in Mid-West Houston

Houston police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting incident that occurred at 6009 Richmond Avenue on February 26, 2023, at approximately 2 a.m.

The person of interest, who is not currently facing charges, has been described as a black male wearing a durag and dressed in black. Authorities have released surveillance footage of the individual, who appears to be working as a security guard. The video is attached to this news release for reference.

According to reports from the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division, the incident unfolded when HPD patrol officers responded to a disturbance at the aforementioned address. Shortly after their arrival, a Harris County Sheriff’s deputy working an extra job at the location requested police assistance. As officers were en route, gunshots were heard from various directions nearby.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that a vehicle, with the female victim as a passenger along with other occupants, was leaving a restaurant in the vicinity. This departure followed a physical altercation that had occurred inside the restaurant. Tragically, their vehicle was shot through the windshield, resulting in the woman being struck by gunfire. She was promptly transported to a local hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics, while no other individuals in the vehicle sustained injuries.

At present, it remains unclear whether the shooting incident is directly related to the preceding altercation.
