Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run on Highway 6 in Harris County; Driver Sought

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman was killed early Monday after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 6 South, and Harris County investigators are searching for the driver who left the scene.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded Sept. 28 to an auto-pedestrian crash in the 8000 block of Highway 6 South.

Investigators said Joshalyn Moore was walking east to west across the southbound lanes of Highway 6 when she entered the path of a black Chevrolet Spark traveling south in the roadway’s No. 2 lane.

Moore was struck by the Chevrolet. According to the Sheriff’s Office, she failed to yield the right of way to the vehicle.

Community Fire Department medics arrived and found Moore with no signs of life. She was pronounced dead at 12:11 a.m.

The driver did not remain at the scene, according to investigators. Neither the driver nor the Chevrolet Spark had been located when the Sheriff’s Office released information about the crash.

Authorities have not released a description of the driver or additional identifying information about the vehicle.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the fatal crash.
