Passenger Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash After Driver Runs Stop Sign in Southwest Houston

A woman was killed and two others injured following a two-vehicle crash on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in southwest Houston.

At approximately 2:44 p.m., 51-year-old Tina Christal was driving a black 2016 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on the 15500 block of Hiram Clarke Road with 53-year-old Mary Guzman as her passenger. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division, Christal failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection at the S. Sam Houston Parkway W. service road.

A silver 2023 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by 47-year-old LaTonya Barfield, was traveling westbound on the service road when it struck the Chevrolet on the left front quarter panel. The collision caused the Chevrolet to rotate and strike the Nissan a second time.

Guzman and Christal were transported by ambulance to Ben Taub Hospital. Guzman succumbed to her injuries at 4:35 p.m. Barfield was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital-TMC. Christal and Barfield sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover.

The crash remains under investigation by the HCSO Vehicular Crimes Division.
