Odessa Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault with Golf Club

Over the weekend, the Odessa Police Department and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to a medical call in the 900 block of Prairie. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 44-year-old male with a head injury. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later air-lifted to Lubbock due to the severity of his injuries.

Investigation findings indicate that the victim had been assaulted with a golf club by 30-year-old John Anthony Chavez. The assault resulted in life-threatening injuries for the victim.

In connection with the incident, Chavez was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence), classified as a “Felony 2.” He was subsequently transported to the Ector County Jail.
